米开朗基罗·博那罗蒂（Michelangelo Buonarroti，1475年3月6日—1564年2月18日），又译“米开朗琪罗”，意大利文艺复兴时期伟大的绘画家、雕塑家、建筑师和诗人，文艺复兴时期雕塑艺术最高峰的代表，与拉斐尔和达芬奇并称为文艺复兴后三杰。他一生追求艺术的完美，坚持自己的艺术思路，其风格影响了几乎三个世纪的艺术家。 小行星3001以他的名字命名来表达后人对他的尊敬。

Sistine Chapel Ceiling: Creation of Adam,1510
1475年3月6日，米开朗基罗·博纳罗蒂出生于现意大利城市佛罗伦萨附近的卡普莱斯（卡波热斯），他是弗洛伦萨城中的一个中产者，他父亲是卡普雷塞和丘西两个地区的最高行政长官。母亲在米开朗基罗六岁的时候就去世了。

米开朗基罗13 岁时进入了佛罗伦萨著名画家多梅尼科·吉兰达伊奥（Ghirlandaio）的工作室，在那里他最初接触终生所从事的神圣事业，并以神奇的速度掌握了绘画技巧。后又跟随多那太罗的学生贝尔托尔多学习了一年雕塑，之后他又进了佛罗伦萨统治者罗伦佐·美第奇开办的“自由美术学校（美第奇学院）”，由于他的超群才华倍受罗伦佐的重视和爱护，宫廷中大量的艺术品成了他学习、研究的对象，经常出入于宫中的人文主义诗人和学者给了他极大影响。短短四年中，他在美第奇宫里获得了一个伟大艺术家所必须具备的条件，为他整个艺术创作打下了坚实基础。

在罗伦佐的府邸里，设有一个“柏拉图学院”，学者们聚在一起研究学问，他们在罗伦佐的支持下创立了一种新的思想体系－人文主义，他们的思想是要把世界归还给人，把人归还给他自己。把人的艺术、文学和科学，还有作为个体的独立的思想和感情归还给人，人绝不能像一个奴隶一样被捆绑在教条之上，在锁链中死亡腐朽。

米开朗基罗还经常去听宗教改革家、修道士萨伏那洛拉揭露教会黑暗的演说，这位为了拯救人类命运而不怕宗教法庭审判的修道士给他的灵魂留下了不可磨灭的烙印。1492年罗伦佐·美第奇死后，米开朗基罗失去了保护人，佛罗伦萨陷于一片混乱，他深感故乡非久留之地，赴威尼斯和波伦亚，后转道罗马寻找发展机会。罗马到处林立古代雕像，犹如走进巨大的古代艺术宝库。

1496 年，米开朗基罗来到罗马，创作了第一批代表作《酒神巴库斯》等。23 岁的米开朗基罗受法国红衣主教委托，为圣彼得教堂制作《哀悼基督》雕像。这件雕像的问世，使米开朗基罗名盖罗马，自多纳太罗之后又一颗雕刻巨星升起。

1501 年，26 岁的米开朗基罗载誉回到故乡佛罗伦萨，用了四年时间完成了举世闻名的《大卫》，安放在韦吉奥宫正门前，作为佛罗伦萨守护神和民主政府的象征。

1505 年应尤利乌斯二世邀请，米开朗基罗赴罗马为教皇在圣彼得教堂内建造陵墓，米开朗基罗的建造才华，使教皇的艺术总监勃拉曼特极为妒忌，他唆使教皇暂不修陵墓，强求米开朗基罗去画西斯廷教堂天顶壁画，米开朗基罗用了四年零五个月的时间以超凡的智慧和毅力完成了世界上最大的壁画西斯廷教堂天顶壁画《创世纪》。

1513 年，教皇陵墓恢复施工，米开朗基罗历尽艰辛磨难创作了著名的《摩西》、《被缚的奴隶》和《垂死的奴隶》。

1519～1534 年，44岁的大师又重回到佛罗伦萨，出生美第奇家族的教皇利奥十世又强迫米开朗基罗为其祖宗圣洛伦佐陵墓制作雕像，他创作了他生平最伟大的作品——圣洛伦佐教堂里的美第奇家族陵墓群雕，著名的雕像《昼》、《夜》、《晨》、《暮》就是安放在这座陵墓的石棺上。

1536 年，已经 61 岁的米开朗基罗被召回到罗马西斯廷教堂，用了近六年的时间在 25 年前完成的《创世记》天顶画下的祭坛壁面上创作了伟大的教堂壁画《最后的审判》。
1562 年受其门生，著名画家、艺术史家乔治·瓦萨里之邀成为迪亚诺学院（佛罗伦萨美术学院）名誉院长。之后他一直生活在罗马，从事雕刻、建筑和少量的绘画工作，直到 1564 年 2 月 18 日逝世于自己的工作室中。
